*Book Review* UNATTAINABLE by: Deb Apodaca

UNATTAINABLE (an affliction novel #2)
By: Deb Apodaca

Author: Deb Apodaca

Book Description
as seen on amazon.com

“What’s going on?” asked Markus.
“I want to kill him!” Dean exclaimed grimly.
“Who?” asked Markus.
Then Dean jerked his head towards us as his chest expanded in and out.
Markus turned and spotted us in the distance. He froze as his eyes landed on Shane and I. Then he began to breathe hard and I heard his heart accelerate.
“You can’t.” Markus said while staring at me with widened eyes.
“I need to kill something! Damn it Markus. I’ve never been so pissed.” Dean stopped pacing and he stopped punching the obliterated wall behind him. He looked at Shane and then back at me, then he began walking towards us in determination with his head lowered and murderous eyes focused.
“Hey! What are you doing?” called Markus as he caught up to Dean. “You can’t!”
“Screw everything. I’m killing him right now! Here! Tonight!” Dean said darkly as he closed the distance between us.

My Review

ABSOLUTELY
++++

This is book number 2 in the Affliction series. I got the amazing chance to review this book, along with the 1st book back in 2011, thanks to this wonderful author!! For my review of CAPTIVATED (the 1st book in the affliction series) feel free to click HERE

(The book that I reviewed is a first edition. The second edition has about 30 pages added to it.)

I personally think that this book is the PERFECT sequel to Captivated!! I couldn't put it down!! When you read Unattainable you will finally find out the truth about the death of Deans parents and the truth about why Mindy's father left. You also find out why the vampires targeted Mindy. I LOVED this book so much and I most definitely 100% recommend that you read it!!! I know that if you've read Captivated already and loved it you will love Unattainable as well!! If you haven't then you NEED to!!! These books just keep getting better and I can't even imagine how good the 3rd book in this series will be!!  So what are you waiting for go out and get a copy of both books!!!!

In this book you get to meet new characters and find out more about characters you've already come to know a little, some you will love and some you may not. I have my favorites, among them is of course Mindy, Dean, and Markus. I have a few new characters to add to my favorites which are Elph and Violet. I don't want to say too much about the characters but I will say this, Elph is connected to Dean and he has been there since the beginning of Deans new life as a slayer with out Dean ever having a clue he was there. Violet is also a slayer who has been sent to keep an eye on Dean. I love the addition of these two characters!!!

Warning: Spoiler alert

If you do not want to hear a little bit about what's between the covers of this amazing book do not read!!

(These are my own words and how I perceived the book)

Mindy is now living as a newly made vampire, thanks to Shane. He had orders to turn her from the clan leader, Darcel. She doesn't remember her human life, but she keeps having pain that she thinks has something to do with her human life. Her dreams are visions of her human life and she doesn't know if they're real of just a dream, but she feels like they're memories. Now, of course, Mindy is very close to Shane, due to the fact that he is technically her maker. What Mindy doesn't know is Shane is hiding her past from her, the past that she craves to know so badly. She finally realizes that she'll have to figure it out on her own. Meanwhile, Dean is beside himself, losing the love of his life was too much to handle along with the loss of his parents years before. He takes up drinking to try to numb the pain of his Lina's "death". He no longer cares for himself, not eating, not sleeping, and letting his rage take over. Markus has become close to Dean, even though, Dean doesn't know how to have someone there all the time, Markus is worried about his friend. He takes it upon himself to help Dean and tag along with him on his hunts and help improve his weapons. Dean doesn't believe Mindy is still in there somewhere, but Markus keeps his hope of Mindy not being lost inside her shell. He hopes that Mindy's true self will resurface. When Markus discovers a vampire club and goes into it he meets "the girl of his dreams" Violet. With eyes like lilac she is his perfect girl. Violet, also being a slayer, was sent to keep an eye on Dean.
Darcel, the clan leader, wanted Mindy for one reason and now that they have her they will train her to do what others before her could not do. The clan is now in hiding due to the slayer finding their old home.
Mindy finally sees that her visions are memories and when she's around Dean her pain goes away.

Okay so there's a little teaser for your mind. Can't really tell you much more. I really hope that you all enjoy this book as much as I did!!

You can get the Kindle edition HERE from amazon. You can LIKE Captivated, an affliction series on FACEBOOK. You can follow Deb Apodaca on Twitter @AfflictionNovel.

I would like to shout out a BIG THANK YOU to Deb for letting me explore the marvelous world that she created!!!  You are an AMAZING author and I am so grateful that you gave me the opportunity to review not just one of your books but two!!!

*Book Review* CRAVE by: Karen E. Taylor

The 2nd book in The Vampire Legacy.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE BOOK

Like HUNGER, CRAVE is a re-release. It consists of the 3rd and 4th books in The Vampire Legacy series, Blood Ties and Blood of My Blood.

(From the back of the book)

As a vampire, Deirdre Griffin has roamed the world satisfying the exquisite, ecstatic craving for blood that is her life force. And at last, her lover has joined her, hungry for his transformation, prepared to feed with her for eternity. Yet, for the first time, Deirdre feels fear....

From the farthest corners of the globe to the underworld of Manhattan, enemies are closing in for a rogue vampire is on the loose. And he isn't just killing humans. Now the hunters are the prey.

But someone else is coming for Deirdre--
someone she cannot possibly defend herself against. Blood of her blood, flesh of her flesh---and craving the tangy, acrid, deadly smell of vengeance...

(Here are the two books that make up CRAVE)

Deirdre and her lover, Detective Mitch Greer, attempt to start a new life in London, but The Cadre--an ancient society of vampires implores them to return to New York City to stop a psychopath who is killing vampires

When an Immortal Mother... — For one hundred years, I've roamed the world, taking what I needed from my victims, killing if necessary. But I've never known real fear until now. She is coming. The scent of my blood is drawing her to me. And soon, I will face the only enemy I cannot defend against -- my daughter... — ... Is Reunited with a Vengeful Daughter...

Lily. Interesting name my mother gave me -- just like the lilies she left on my grave. She abandoned me once, but I made my way back into the living. For years, I've had only one consuming goal -- revenge. Already, Deirdre's nearest and dearest recognize our uncanny resemblance, including her lover, Mitch Greer...

... Blood Will be Spilled.

A mother haunted by a decades-old mistake. A daughter seeking revenge. In a bloody game of retribution that races from the wilds of Maine to the Gothic, fantastical streets of New Orleans and the vampire underworld of Manhattan, the hunter becomes the hunted...

Warning this book does contain SOME adult content!! Therefore, parents you have been warned!!

My Rating for this book:
(ABSOLUTELY)

My Review

I was first introduced to The Vampire Legacy series last year and I was instantly hooked!!

I first reviewed HUNGER for Karen E. Taylor, you can find my post HERE. Thankfully I've had the chance to also review CRAVE. It's taken me a while to get my review up for this book due to internet and computer issues but I'm so happy that I finally get to share my thoughts on one of the best series that I've read and am going to continue reading. The next book, THIRST, is coming out in fall of 2012!! The book is also up for preorder! You can go to Karen E. Taylor's official website to preorder you copy now or you can preorder from one of my favorite spots...Amazon.com.
As usual I'm a book cover kinda girl so I was interested in reviewing the first book because of the amazing cover. The second book was no disappointment in the "cover" area because it too is amazing!!

This series is most definitely unlike any other!! To be totally honest when the cat and wolf came out in this book I was a little on the fence as to whether I would like this odd mixture of beings, but as it turned out I fell in love with them. There are so many emotions that go on throughout this book. For me it was almost like I went through all of the emotions with the characters. This book introduces a few new characters, some I absolutely love and some not so much, due to their actions. I love how Karen wrote her characters!!! They all have a special quality about them, they are truly exquisite. CRAVE definitely was a page turner for me, with so much mystery, action, and the occasional romance, I had to find out what happened next. It had me guessing at who was truly with Deirdre and Mitch and who wasn't. With the vampire as the hunted instead of the hunter it is a nice change in the role of the undead.
If you do not own these books you need to go out and buy them ASAP!!!!

Just a little tease into CRAVE

With Mitch and Deirdre in London for a while they thought they had it all. They had each other for eternity and nothing to worry about..........or so they thought.
Meanwhile, back in Manhattan there's a problem with a rogue vampire and the Cadre calls on Mitch and Deirdre to take care of the problem. The rogue, Larry Martin, has found a way to make other vampires meet the sun.
When the problem is taken care of Mitch and Deirdre move to a cabin where no one could bother them, except for the occasional visit from Sam to bring them supplies.
Problems are brewing between Mitch and Deirdre when Mitch starts talking in his sleep.
Unknown to them someone is out for revenge and willing to do whatever to get it. With help from Deirdre's friends and bank account they have all the information about Deirdre and Mitch's whereabouts, among other things, to put their plan of revenge into motion.
Mitch is taken and locked up and Deirdre is left to think he left her and took everything.

Wanna know more??? Go buy The Vampire Legacy series!!! You will not be disappointed!!

With the cat and wolf on the prowl you as a reader will love this series because it only gets better!!!!

I can hardly wait for THIRST it's definitely on my have to read list of the year!!!

I would like to send out a BIG THANKS to Karen E. Taylor for allowing me to review both books in The Vampire Legacy series!!!

My Rating for Crossroads:

My Review

This book is most definitely a MUST READ!!!! If you don't have it you need to go buy it right away!!! You can buy it on her website www.marytingcrossroads.com  I absolutely ADORE this book and it will for sure have tons of wear and tear from my reading it over and over!!! :)

Okay now usually in my book reviews I do put some spoilers here and there, and some more than others, but with this one I'm gonna try not to. That way when you read the book you can enjoy the fact of not really knowing what's gonna happen next. It's so good that you will what that feeling of what's to come when reading it!!! :)

If you're looking for a book that will take you to another world that you don't want to leave then this is your book!! I was so indulged in this book that I was completely unaware of my surrounding. My husband had to physically touch me to get my attention. I wasn't ready for it to end when I got to the last chapter. There was so much more that I needed to know, like what becomes of Michael and Claudia, what happens with Patty and Andrew, what about Austin, and what about the other alkin.. Caleb, Vivian, and Davin?!?!?! I wanted more!! That's what this book does, leaves you wanting more!!!!
To be honest I think I read the prologue about 3 or 4 times before I talked myself into going further. I mean I was kinda confused after reading that and going into the first chapter. I didn't know whose point of view it was coming from until I read on. I'm so glad that I didn't stop at the prologue because then I would've missed out on such an amazing book!!!!
Although, this book portrays the human characters as teenagers I felt that some of the time it didn't seem like they where. They seemed much older that they are portrayed. But hey that's fine with me because I mean what teenager doesn't try to act and talk like an adult. :)
The way this story flows and unfolds is so amazing!! It doesn't rush with what happens like some books. It lets it happen with time. The love story that blossoms between Claudia and Michael is like a breathe of fresh air!!! I mean when I read about their interactions with each other it's like I could feel the spark between them myself.
Claudia's friendship with Patty is like any girl and her best friend. Gamma was a lovely character. She had my heart with the way she was so protective over Claudia, kinda reminded me of my own grandmother. Claudia's mother was just like any other single mom I've ever known, working hard to provide for her family and trying hard to make sure she has time to spend with her child.
Davin, Vivian, and Caleb are amazing!! Not only are they half human, half angel they too became somewhat a victim of their own human emotion with the way they all cared for Claudia.

I'm so glad that Mary Ting allowed me to enter the world she created in Crossroads!!! I mean, this book truly is the BEST book I've read this year..........or in the past decade even!!! I CANNOT wait to get my hand on book number two, BETWEEN!!! I need to know more!!! :) You can go check out her cover reveal for book number two, Between and read the synopsis over at Late Bloomer Online

I would like to send a BIG THANK YOU out to Mary Ting for letting me review Crossroads!!!! I hope you enjoy my review!!!

*Book Review* All This and Family Too by: Sarah E. Glenn

A little about the author from goodreads.com

Sarah E. Glenn, a product of the suburbs, has a B.S. in Journalism, which is redundant if you think about it. By day, she works for the University of Kentucky. By night, she battles banality by writing weird stories. Several have appeared in mystery and paranormal anthologies, including G.W. Thomas’ Ghostbreakers series, Futures Mysterious Anthology Magazine, and Fish Tales: The Guppy Anthology.

Sarah developed strong ideals from her parents, a salesman turned missionary (redundancy runs in the family) and a social worker. Her knowledge of bureaucracy and infighting stem from working in her local police department, her university, and political volunteering. She discovered Kolchak, comic books, fantasy role-playing games, and her lovely wife on her own. All This and Family, Too is her first novel

Title: All This and Family Too
Author: Sarah E. Glenn
Publisher: Pill Hill Press

Author Description

Cynthia Leach, professor of astronomy, just wants to lead a normal unlife. She believes that she can escape vampire hunters by moving away from North Carolina, but instead finds herself with a host of new problems.
Astronomy isn’t a nighttime science any more, and her department chair tries to force her to teach day classes. She rescues a runaway who soon learns too much to be discarded. Her family has moved to California with her, and the president of the neighborhood association is determined to run Grandma out of town. Worst of all, the vampire hunters are persistent ones – who have followed Cynthia to her new home.

Book Description

Adjusting to life as a vampire hasn’t been easy for Cynthia. Her partner murdered, stalked by a demented preacher-turned-vampire hunter, and forced to move across country from North Carolina to Irvine, California, Cynthia tackles undeath one battle at a time.
With the help of her devoted grandmother, trusted brother, and Josie, a distracting runaway, Cynthia comes to realize that it is not walking in sunlight that makes a person human, and living in the shadows might shed light on the things most important to her survival—family, love and controlling her thirst for blood.

My Review

I was sent this book via PDF. I don't really like doing PDF reviews because it hurts my eyes to read it off my computer, but some I just can't pass up. I totally couldn't pass this one up!!! I was turned onto this book by a friend and I'm so glad that I got the chance to read it!!

To be totally honest I didn't really get into this book until after the 5th chapter. I almost stopped reading it, but I'm so glad I didn't because it turned out to be really good!! So if your like me and don't get into it right away...DON'T give up because it gets so much better!!! I found that my computer would go dead a few times while I was reading it because I didn't really want to quit once I got into it. This book is a very good read!! I do recommend that if you are into vampire books that you get this one!! You can relate to the characters and some situations. It's a very realistic story, if vampires were real. I'm so hoping that there will be a 2nd book!!

This book wasn't your everyday vampire book. Cynthia Leach is like any other woman in the world, dealing with problems, getting used to a new home, a new job, and a new life. She's your average everyday woman.  Cynthia was turned into a vampire and now has to rearrange her life to live in the darkness.

The characters in this book are amazing!! Josie, she's a teenage runaway who found herself almost killed if it wouldn't have been for Cynthia. Grandma's pretty awesome, I mean what Grandmother would accept having a vampire as a grandchild, take in a runaway stranger, and up an move for you because crazy vampire hunters are after you. Cynthia's brother, her assistant, not only has a vampire as a sister now but also dates a vampire. I love how the author didn't make Cynthia a vampire who gets turned and automatically knows what to do. I liked how she found help in her brothers boyfriend. I also love how the book had romance, humor, and some action.

If you don't have All This and Family Too on your bookshelf then you need to go and buy it!!!!

Big Thanks for the chance to review this book!! I absolutely loved it!!
